The event brought together high school students from across Northeast Georgia to put their technical skills to the test in a dynamic, hands-on competition aimed at inspiring the next generation of manufacturing talent.
Students from Hart, Franklin, White, and Union counties participated in the pro-am style invitational, which paired each high school student with a precision machining student from NGTC. Working together, the teams completed real-world challenges designed to reflect modern manufacturing processes, including interpreting technical drawings, operating CNC equipment, and fabricating a custom wax stamp.
The competition was judged by industry and educational professionals, who evaluated teams on technical accuracy, creativity, teamwork, and overall execution. The top three students were recognized and received prizes including professional tools to begin their careers in manufacturing.
“Our goal with the Skills Invitational is to create meaningful, hands-on experiences that connect students with career opportunities in high-tech manufacturing,” said Dustin Chambers, Commercial Plant Manager at Haering Precision. “This year’s participants showed incredible potential, and we’re proud to support their growth.”
In recognition of their hard work and talent, all participating students have been invited to complete a paid internship or work-based learning program at Haering Precision’s Lavonia facility. These programs provide direct exposure to cutting-edge production environments and serve as a pathway into high-demand technical careers.
The 2025 Haering Precision Skills Invitational is part of Haering’s ongoing commitment to workforce development, technical education, and community collaboration. Events like this help bridge the gap between classroom learning and in-demand careers, while giving students a platform to shine.
